Corps of Engineers, top brass cut ribbon on DOD's 1st LEED-Platinum hospital
Soon-to-be-mothers can have a picture-perfect view of the mountains in the maternity room at the new Weed Army Community Hospital at Fort Irwin, California. The new hospital is the Department of Defense's first LEED-Platinum, carbon-neutral medical facility built in the U.S. It generates all of the energy it needs by solar power and other renewable energy systems.
