U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District Park Rangers, Nicolas Figueroa and Allen Aguas, participated in a cleanup event April 13 at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Refuge. Hosted by the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains, over 100 volunteers removed more than 1/2 a ton of trash and debris from a 1/4 mile reach of Haskell Creek. Several local stakeholder groups participated in this event, including the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society, the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Steering Committee, the Encino Neighborhood Council, the City of Los Angeles Department of Sanitation, and California State Parks.
