Intermittent closures set for San Luis Rey River levee maintenance road/recreation trail

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – For the safety of maintenance workers and others, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will intermittently restrict use of the maintenance road/recreation trail along the San Luis Rey River south levee between Sept. 9 and Dec. 6 in order to perform habitat restoration in the adjacent flood risk management channel.

The closures will prohibit the use of the levee maintenance road/recreation trail between Benet Road and Interstate 5, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. during the following weeks:

•     Sept. 9 – 13 and 23 – 27

•     Oct. 7 – 11 and 21 – 25

•     Nov. 4 – 8 and 18 – 22

•     Dec. 2 – 6

Signage and road barriers will be installed during the closures. Recreationists may use State Route 76 as an alternate route.
