    District partners with the Phoenix VA medical Center on six construction projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is partnering with the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System to oversee construction of six projects, totaling more than $35 million.

    Corps’ Military Programs director for Interagency, International Services tours Southern California Veterans Affairs’ projects

    The director of Military Programs for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Interagency and International Services traveled to Southern California Feb. 23 and 24 to meet with representatives working on three different Veterans Affairs projects. The projects are managed by the Corps’ Los Angeles District.

    Corps general tours military, DOD, VA projects during weeklong visit to California

    LOS ANGELES – One of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ top generals for military and international operations made his first visit to Southern California during a weeklong tour of some of the agency’s Los Angeles District projects. Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Milhorn, the Corps’ deputy commanding general for Military and International Operations, toured several project sites across the desert and the coastline – from the National Training Center at Fort Irwin to Vandenburg Air Force Base – during his visit to California.

    Lt. Col. Alex Deraney, Los Angeles District deputy commander, and his wife Marisa visited the San Fernando–Santa Clarita Valleys’ Habitat for Humanity booth to learn about volunteer opportunities with the Habitat for Heroes program. The Deraneys said they like to keep their family involved in the local community and what better way than helping veterans. They represented the District at the San Fernando Valley Veterans Day parade Nov. 11 in Pacoima, Calif., which also featured a carnival and information booths for community groups and service organizations like the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Veterans Administration providing information for veterans and their families.
