      <description>When the Southern California wildfires began Jan. 7, residents never expected to see destruction of this magnitude. As people raced from their homes with little to no notice, they grabbed what they could —leaving behind memories and family mementos, many of which spanned generations. Not knowing just how bad things would get, many survivors found themselves able to do little but hope and pray.&lt;br/&gt;

      <description>Working on the Southern California wildfire recovery is incredibly challenging as people come together from across the country to deploy and offer their help.&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;img src='https://media.defense.gov/2025/May/06/2003704907/115/75/0/250415-A-IP039-1004.JPG' alt='Outgoing Safety Supervisor Tony McCoy, and Los Angeles District employee, provides an outgoing message to quality assurance supervisors and representatives before they begin work in Altadena, California, April 14.

These meetings are a part of their daily routine to ensure supervisors are made aware of any plan changes, as well as to discuss any safety concerns.

USACE is working in partnership with local, state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to the Southern California Wildfires.' /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;

      <title>U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Turns Over 7 Alternate Care Sites Over the Weekend</title>

      <description>Between Friday, April 17 and Monday, April 20, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finished seven alternate care sites in response to COVID-19. Together with the previous three completed locations, this brings the total to 10. This weekend the Corps of Engineers finished the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, AK; Wisconsin State Fair Expo Center in West Allis, WI; Gibson Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM; Miyamura High School in Gallup, NM; and the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, FL. The Corps of Engineers is turning over two sites today. They are the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI and Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY.
