The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District (USACE), under the authority of Section 595 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 1999, Public Law 106-53, as amended, proposes to assist the Town of Quartzsite, located in La Paz County, Arizona (Figure 1), with activities to improve its potable water distribution system. This would be accomplished by cost-sharing engineering design and construction of the Tyson Street water line extension and installing altitude valves at the Quail Trail Water Storage Facility (Proposed Action; see Figure 1). On June 4, 2025, the USACE posted a Public Notice of its intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Proposed Action. This is to notify the public that the USACE will longer be preparing an EA and intends to use a Categorical Exclusion for the Proposed Action in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended (42 United States Code (USC) 4321, et seq.), and the Department of Defense (DoD) NEPA Implementing Procedures, published June 30, 2025.
