LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION:
Potrero Creek and Nogales Wash are tributaries to the Santa Cruz River in southern Arizona, originating in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico where development occurs without regards to the downstream impacts. Consequently, the economically disadvantaged City of Nogales AZ experiences severe and routine flash flooding originating in Mexico. International sewage lines are regularly damaged, contaminating the flows. This study would investigate current flood risk management needs to address flooding, sediment transport, channel migration issues, and potential modifications to reduce risk.
