Military members pay tribute to Marvel comic book legend, Army veteran during Hollywood ceremony

Entertainment!” during “Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible and Uncanny Life of Stan Lee” Jan. 30 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. The event was a memorial tribute to Stan Lee, Marvel comic book writer, editor, publisher and co-creator, who died in November 2018. Lee was an Army veteran and former writer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. The flags presented to the three organizations were flown over Iraq by Maj. Scotty Autin, deputy commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, during his last deployment. A flag also was presented to Lee's daughter, J.C., on the Red Carpet.
