Multiple agencies collaborate to provide homeless individuals shelter before tropical storm
A sign posted near a homeless encampment warning of the dangers coming from the impending tropical storm Hurricane Hilary is a stern reminder for those living in the riverbeds near the Santa Fe Dam to seek shelter away from potential flood waters in the area Aug. 19 in Azusa, California. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s Homeless Outreach Service’s Team, Azusa and Irwindale police departments; the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District’s Operations Division; and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority collaborated on efforts to evacuate homeless individuals near the dam to safety prior to the impending tropical storm Hurricane Hilary.
