LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION:
The Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Project focuses on 11 miles of the river from the Headworks site in the San Fernando Valley to 1st Street in downtown Los Angeles. This project is an opportunity to bring back over 700 acres of critical riparian habitat to a river that has lost over 90% of what once existed, while maintaining the current level of flood protection. Specific features included are restoration of two tributary confluences, restoration of the Los Angeles Trailer and Container Intermodal Facility Site, significant removal of concrete and riverbed restoration, restoration of the freshwater marsh at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, and restoration and reconnection to the historic flood plain at Taylor Yard. P3 effort underway: Public Private Partnership (P3) led by City of LA will help finish Design and Construction of the project – saving time and cost.
AUTHORIZATION: Authorized for construction in the WRDA 2016.
ACTIVITES IN FY 2023: Will use carryover funds and budgeted funds to prepare baseline H&H, complete Cultural baseline and Habitat criteria, negotiate and sign P3 Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) and complete PMP.
IIJA ACTIVITIES: Carryover FY22 funds will be used to negotiate and sign Project Partnership Agreement, award first construction contract for P3 Bundling (Design/Build) for Reach 1 PH A
FY 2024 PLANNED ACCOMPLISHMENTS: With optimal funding will use the funds in FY24 to design and construct remaining portion of Reach 7 and design Reach 1-4.
