LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION:
The project consists of flood control and ecosystem restoration, which measures within the approximate 12-square mile of Tucson Arroyo/Arroyo Chico watershed in the City of Tucson located in Pima County, Arizona. The authorized project consists of two detention basin complexes. One referred to as the Randolph Golf Course Detention Basin complex (upstream on Arroyo Chico in the headwaters of the drainage), and the second referred to as the Park Avenue Basin complex (in the approx. center of the watershed).
AUTHORIZATION: WRDA 1999, Section 101(a) (5); WRDA 2007, Section 3009.
ACTIVITIES FOR FY 2023: Carryover funds will be used to complete an Engineering Design Report and initiate project close out procedures.
FY 2024 PLANNED ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Planned carryover funds would be used to continue project close out.
ISSUES AND OTHER INFORMATION: The total project cost estimate (TPCE) is currently being updated. Increment 3 is the last feature required to complete the Tucson Drainage Area Project. Re-design efforts have been lengthy and have been refined a few times to address potential changes in hydrologic and hydraulic conditions as well as modifications due to sponsor considerations and request. A path forward for project completion will be coordinated with executive leadership between the Corps and the non-Federal sponsor.
