John Keever, chief of the Construction Division for the Los Angeles District, is the 2015 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lt. Gen. John W. Morris Civilian of the Year winner. Keever received the award at the USACE 2015 National Awards Ceremony Aug. 6, in the District of Columbia.
The annual award was established by Morris, former Chief of Engineers, to recognize the Corps' top employee.
"Recognized by a select committee appointed by the Chief of Engineers," said South Pacific Division Commander Brig. Gen. Mark Toy. "John received the highest marks for overall standards of excellence and made the most significant and noteworthy contributions to the mission, reputation, and prestige of USACE."
Keever was lauded for his role on an SPD evaluation team for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that reviewed key hospital projects nationwide and for his leadership on international projects.
"I did a missile defense project evaluation - recommendation for a project in Romania," said Keever. "I served as the team leader."
Serving the District since June 1980, Keever takes great pride in being part of the team.
"My contributions to the mission focus on construction and engineering communities of practice," said Keever. "I am part of this much larger group that is critical to delivering projects in the civil works, military, and Interagency and International Services programs."
