    Agencies team up for public meeting on marsh restoration

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hosted a public meeting for the Painted Rock Marsh Restoration project Oct. 18 at the Gila Bend Library in Gila Bend, Arizona.

    Gila River Indian Community, LA District sign historic agreement

    Gila River Indian Community Governor Stephen Roe Lewis and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District Commander Col. Andrew Baker signed a project partnership agreement during a ceremony Nov. 9 at the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona.

    The wetland habitat along the Salt River at the Rio Salado Audubon Center Nov. 18 at the in Phoenix. The proposed Rio Salado Oeste Project will span eight miles and it will connect two existing joint City of Phoenix/USACE projects totaling nearly 19 miles in the Salt River through Phoenix.

    The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District in hosting a public meeting for the Rio Salado Oeste project Nov. 18 at the Rio Salado Audubon Center in Phoenix.

    District cases colors during inactivation ceremony

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Border District cased its colors Feb. 25 during an inactivation ceremony in Phoenix. Division leaders gathered virtually and in person to reflect on the District’s historic accomplishments. “Today is about celebrating this incredible team and acknowledging the District’s contributions to the history of the nation,” said Col. Antoinette R. Gant, South Pacific Division commander and one of the former commanders of the District. “When the need was there, we rose to the occasion – and now it’s time to apply what we have learned to other missions.”

    More than 60 participants visited the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers booth and displays during the American Indian Science and Engineering Society National Conference Sept. 24 in Phoenix. The conference hosted more than 2,000 American Indigenous Science, Technology, Engineering and Math participants.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division was among several agencies recruiting potential employees during the American Indian Science and Engineering Society National Conference Sept. 24 at the Phoenix City Convention Center.
