    Senior dam safety program manager visits Prado Dam spillway project

    To get a first-hand look at Prado Dam and better understand upcoming modifications to its spillway, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ senior Dam and Levee Safety Branch program manager Travis Tutka toured the spillway, exterior and deep interior of the dam, March 9, at Corona, California.

    Col. Julie Balten, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, and David Van Dorpe, deputy district engineer for the LA District, toured the Painted Rock Dam, a flood risk-reduction project, located on the Gila River in Maricopa County March 24 near Gila Bend.

    South Pacific Division commander visits district projects, people

    Col. David Turner, the commander of the South Pacific Division, went on a whirlwind tour of several Los Angeles District projects during a visit to the area Aug. 19-23. Turner, who took command of the division in June, was joined by James Dalton, the Corps of Engineers’ chief of engineering and construction, and Brad Schwichtenberg, deputy chief of the division’s regional integration team.
