SPL-2011-01005-MWL Ray Mine Tailings Storage Facility Project

Los Angeles District
Published Dec. 17, 2018

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, Regulatory Division (Corps) has executed a Record of Decision (ROD) for the federal action associated with the Ray Mine Tailings Storage Facility Project in Pinal County, Arizona.

In August 2018, the Corps completed a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project that evaluated the environmental consequences associated with issuing a Department of the Army permit to Asarco LLC to construct a tailings storage facility and supporting infrastructure in a portion of the Ripsey Wash watershed. The ROD documents the basis for the Corps’s permitting decision with respect to issuing a Department of the Army permit under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

The ROD and the Final EIS can be viewed here.
