    PANACA, Nev. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District safety and emergency management experts join the Nevada State Park Rangers, the Lincoln County Fire Department, along with other federal and nonfederal agencies, to pose for a photo along the top of Matthews Canyon Dam, following an emergency training exercise June 25 in Lincoln County, Nevada. The LA District Emergency Management Team conducted the training event with the support of the Nevada Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and the Lincoln County commissioner.

    Small town trains for big disasters

    The Los Angeles District Emergency Management team conducted an emergency tabletop training exercise June 25 at Panaca Fire Station in Lincoln County, Nevada, to sharpen the emergency response and coordination skills for local, state and federal agencies.

    Pictured is an aerial view of portions of the Los Angeles River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has several roles in operating, maintaining and regulating the LA River, as well as managing federal lands. Under the Los Angeles County Drainage Area project, the Corps operates and maintains several dams and portions of the river's channels and tributaries. The river flows through seven different congressional districts, 10 city council districts, 20 neighborhood councils and 12 community-planned areas.

    District experts host virtual public flood awareness workshop

    The Los Angeles District used a virtual community outreach forum Dec. 14 for public stakeholders to participate in the 2023 Los Angeles River Flood Awareness Workshop.

    Corps team conducts the official kickoff meeting for the Little Colorado River at Winslow

    Representatives with the City of Winslow, Navajo County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District met Sept. 19 to discuss the Little Colorado River at Winslow Flood-Control project in Winslow, Ariz.
