  • Construction - Western Rural Water, AZ Quartzsite New Well No.4 and System Improvements

    LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Western Rural Water Arizona Program: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) 1999 Section 595 authorized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to provide design and construction assistance for water supply, wastewater treatment, environmental restoration, and surface water protection to rural communities. Section 4008 of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 amended WRDA 1999 Section 595, authorizing $490M for technical assistance to small and rural communities in Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. WRDA 2020 added a $150M authorization for Arizona projects with WRDA 2022 increasing the authorization by $50M ($200M total). Project includes improvements to the town’s existing drinking water infrastructure. The system currently has one well, with no redundancy.

  • Regulatory Program - Geothermal and Lithium Development, Salton Sea, CA

    LOCATION The Salton Sea is located 100 miles east of San Diego in Imperial and Riverside Counties, California. The southeastern area is located within the Salton Sea Known Geothermal Resource Area (SSKGRA), which currently encompasses the second largest geothermal field in the United States. This area has the potential to be the largest when fully developed. There are currently 11 existing plants within this area producing geothermal energy.
  • Regulatory Program - La Media Road Improvement Project, San Diego, CA

    Location The project is located in the Otay Mesa neighborhood of the city of San Diego, California, immediately south of Otay Mesa Freeway and along La Media Road, north of the international boundary with Mexico.
  • O&M - Whitlow Ranch Dam, AZ

    LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Located 50 miles SE of Phoenix, AZ, in Pima County, AZ. Project elements being operated and maintained: Dam (earth-fill; 25-feet-high; 978-feet-long); Outlet Works (circular conduit); and Un-gated Service Roads Reservoir (35,593 acre-foot cap spillway crest - 1976). There are no recreation facilities.
  • Construction - Tucson Drainage Area, AZ

    LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: The project consists of flood control and ecosystem restoration, which measures within the approximate 12-square mile of Tucson Arroyo/Arroyo Chico watershed in the City of Tucson located in Pima County, Arizona. The authorized project consists of two detention basin complexes.
  • O&M - Painted Rock Dam, AZ

    LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Located about 20 miles NW of Gila Bend, AZ, and 120 miles SW of Phoenix, AZ. Project elements being operated and maintained: Dam (earth fill; 181-feet high: 4,780-feet long); Saddle Dike Outlet Works (circular conduit); Spillway (detached); Pilot Channel Reservoir (2,491,493-acre-foot cap spillway crest – 1977); and One recreation area (downstream at borrow pit area). This recreation area is closed by the State of Arizona due to contaminated water.
  • Investigations - Potrero Creek Watershed (Nogales Wash), AZ

    LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Potrero Creek and Nogales Wash are tributaries to the Santa Cruz River in southern Arizona, originating in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico where development occurs without regards to the downstream impacts. Consequently, the economically disadvantaged City of Nogales AZ experiences severe and routine flash flooding originating in Mexico.
