LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District awarded a $3.75 million contract to Betance Enterprises, Inc., of Riverside, California, Jan. 13, for emergency debris removal in Santa Barbara County flood basins to restore capacity and reduce the risk of flooding to homes and businesses.
This effort is in partnership with local, state and federal agencies in response to the devastating California wildfires and the resulting floods.
"The health and safety of our fellow community members in Santa Barbara County are top priorities for the Los Angeles District," said Col. Kirk Gibbs, Los Angeles District commander. "We will do everything in our power to aid in the recovery effort."
Work is anticipated to begin immediately.
