LA District awards contract for Nogales Bridge

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has awarded a contract Sept. 20 for $3,989,708.37 to West Point Contractors, Inc. to construct a replacement bridge over Nogales Wash. The project will begin construction in October and is expected to be complete in June 2014.

USACE finalizes draft L.A. River study report and initiates 45-day public comment period

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finalized preparation of a draft report for the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study and posted the report to the Los Angeles District website Sept. 13. The report will appear in the Federal Register Sept. 20, which will trigger a 45-day public comment period that will help inform a final report and result in the Corps’ recommendation to Congress.

Army Corps to hold environmental impact scoping meeting on potential Whittier Narrows Dam modifications

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District will hold a public meeting for the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Modification Study and Environmental Impact Statement on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at the Pico Rivera Golf Course Clubhouse, 3260 Fairway Dr., Pico Rivera, 90660.

Intermittent closures set for San Luis Rey River levee maintenance road/recreation trail

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will intermittently restrict use of the maintenance road/recreation trail along the San Luis Rey River south levee between Sept. 9 and Dec. 6.
