  • Corps to implement advance flood risk management measures in Glendale Narrows

    The Corps will close the equestrian access point in the temporary protective barrier along the east bank of the Los Angeles River in the Glendale Narrows area near Verdant Street Jan. 21 due to the forecast of excessive rain for the Los Angeles area this weekend,
  • Corps operates Sepulveda Dam during storms

    Sepulveda Dam is the western-most of the Corps of Engineers’ dams operated by the Los Angeles District in the Los Angeles County Drainage Area flood control system designed to collect flood runoff from the uncontrolled drainage areas upstream, store it temporarily, and release it into the Los Angeles River at a rate that does not exceed the downstream channel capacity.
  • Corps activates operations center during storm to reduce flood risk

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District activated its Reservoir Operations Center in anticipation of excessive rainfall from storms across Southern California over the weekend. Staff will monitor rain forecasts, river flows and the amount of water temporarily stored in Corps basins.
