LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District awarded a $15.29 million contract to Tribal One Broadband Technologies LLC, of North Bend, Oregon, Jan. 28, for emergency debris removal of Santa Monica Debris Basin in Santa Barbara County to restore capacity and reduce the risk of flooding to homes and businesses.

This effort is in partnership with local, state and federal agencies in response to the devastating California wildfires and the resulting floods. On Jan. 10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a verbal debris removal and clearance mission assignment to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division for Santa Barbara County. The Los Angeles District is executing the mission.

"The health and safety of our fellow community members in Santa Barbara County are top priorities for the Los Angeles District," said Col. Kirk Gibbs, Los Angeles District commander. "We will do everything in our power to aid in the recovery effort."

Work is anticipated to begin immediately.
