  • Chief of Engineers signs report recommending ecosystem restoration in Prado Basin

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ top general signed a report April 22 – on Earth Day – recommending a plan to restore more than 600 acres of valuable riparian habitat within the largest riparian forest in Southern California. Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, the Corps’ commanding general and 55th U.S. Army chief of engineers, signed the Chief of Engineer’s Report for the Prado Basin Ecosystem Restoration and Water Conservation Feasibility Study at the Corps’ headquarters in Washington, D.C. The project is headed by the Corps’ Los Angeles District, in partnership with the Orange County Water District.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles, released the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Study final Integrated Feasibility Report for state and agency review Oct. 2.
  • Mayor Garcetti and Corps announce significant milestone for LA River restoration

    City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles District Commander Col. Kim Colloton announced that the plan to restore the Los Angeles River was unanimously approved today by the Civil Works Review Board of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, District of Columbia.

    LOS ANGELES--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers received guidance from Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy May 27 on moving forward with further development of the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Study and future documentation.
  • Tres Rios project earns Corps award for environmental design

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District will present the Chief of Engineers Award of Excellence for Environmental Design to the City of Phoenix and representatives from the District’s Arizona-Nevada Area Office, Archer-Western Contractors, Ltd., and Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc., for work done at the Tres Rios Environmental Restoration Project, Phase II Flow Regulating and Overbank Wetlands, during a ceremony Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m. in the Mayor's office, 11th Floor at Phoenix City Hall. Media are invited to cover the event.
  • Corps and County to Celebrate Completion of Tujunga Wash Eco-Restoration Project

    Corps and County officials will dedicate the Tujunga Wash Ecosystem Restoration Project in Valley Glen, Calif., and open the new facility to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 15.
