    The mayors of Superior and Douglas, Arizona, along with a representative from Congressman Greg Stanton’s office, met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials Sept. 16 in Phoenix to sign project partnership agreements for environmental infrastructure projects in the two cities.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosted a public meeting to discuss the ongoing San Diego County Shoreline (Oceanside) Mitigation Study Sept. 16 at the Oceanside Civic Center Library. The study aims to mitigate shoreline erosion and other impacts, resulting from the construction of U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Harbor, which has interrupted sediment transport along the coast and contributed to erosion of southward beaches.

    Corps, city celebrates San Clemente beach expansion

    The City of San Clemente hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of part of its expanded beach May 31 in San Clemente. The event occurred following the completion of Phase One of the San Clemente Beach Nourishment project, which aims to reduce coastal storm damage along the city’s shoreline.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District collaborated with the City of Newport Beach, Orange County Public Works and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to remove debris from several unauthorized encampments April 19 in the Santa Ana River Marsh at Newport Beach. The area is home to endangered habitat.
