LOS ANGELES – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District received an additional $23.091 million in funding through congressional appropriations for existing projects and programs through the Corps fiscal year 2012 work plan.
According to the Statement of Managers report found at
http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CRPT-112hrpt331/pdf/CRPT-112hrpt331.pdf, USACE must allocate the funding received through the 2012 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill into the following categories:
- Investigations Account -- $875,000 total
- Construction Account -- $18.867 million total
- Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Account -- $4.349 million total
District funding was allocated for the following investigations: Little Colorado River (Winslow) AZ, ($340,000), Encinitas/Solana Beach ($173,000), L.A. River Ecosystem Restoration ($350,000), Malibu Creek Watershed ($9,000) and L.A. County, CA ($3,000).
Construction projects funded through the FY12 work plan include Arizona projects, Nogales Wash ($2.532 million), Rio de Flag ($2.5 million) and Tucson Drainage Area ($500,000). California construction projects include San Luis Rey ($1.3 million), Santa Ana River Mainstem ($3.003 million) and Santa Maria Levees ($6.089 million). Nevada project, Rural NV (Sect 595) received an allocation of $1.943 million for the district’s portion of work.
The funding for operations and maintenance activities include Marina del Rey ($2.369 million) and Newport Bay ($1.980 million).
Nationally, USACE was allocated $507 million for ongoing work in individual programs, projects, and activities.
Work eligible for consideration generally included ongoing work such as contract management, claims, earnings on certain types of contracts, legal mandates, and safety of project sites; other ongoing Construction and Investigations work on programs, projects and activities that received funding in any year FY09-FY12; and other ongoing Operations and Maintenance, and Mississippi River and Tributaries work. Previously unfunded programs, projects, and activities (new starts) were not considered.
