  • Army Corps Reclassifies Whittier Narrows Dam Risk Characterization

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has changed Whittier Narrows Dam’s risk characterization from high urgency to very high urgency.
  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released the Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement for the Little Colorado River at Winslow Flood Risk Management Study, Navajo County, Arizona, today.
  • CORPS ISSUES PERMIT FOR I-5 CORRIDOR PROJECT

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District issued a permit on May 5 to the California Department of Transportation for impacts to waters of the United States and navigable waters associated with constructing the first phase of the I-5 North Coast Corridor Project in San Diego County. Over the next 20 years, the project will add two high-occupancy vehicle lanes in both directions to approximately 27 miles of the I-5 freeway from La Jolla Village Drive in the San Diego northward to Harbor Drive/Vandegrift Boulevard in Oceanside.
  • Army Corps will hold public meeting for Marina del Rey dry dock storage permit

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, to accept public comment on a permit application to construct a new dock system and 345-slip dry dock storage facility in association with the MDR Basin H Boat Central-Dry Boat Storage Project. The meeting will take place at the Burton W. Chace Park Meeting Room, 13650 Mindanao Way, in Marina del Rey. The public can provide verbal comments at the meeting or provide them in writing up to May 20.
  • Corps to begin removal of temporary barrier on LA River

    The Corps will begin removal in early May of some of the temporary protective barriers that were placed along the most vulnerable reaches of the Los Angeles River.
  • Corps extends AngelFest draft Environmental Assessment comment period

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District today extended the public comment period for the draft Environmental Assessment on the City of Los Angeles' proposed AngelFest event, a three-day music and arts festival in Sepulveda Basin, at the city's request to reflect a rescheduling of the event to October 2017.
