  • L.A. River ecosystem restoration study comment period to end soon

    The public comment period for the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study will come to an end Nov. 18. Until close of business on that day, individuals may submit comments via email to: comments.lariverstudy@usace.army.mil. Or, they may submit written comments postmarked by that day to: Josephine R.   • Corps announces closure of Regulatory offices due to government shutdown

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District today announced it will close its Regulatory offices due to the absence of available federal funding. Regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, Pre-Construction Notifications for Nationwide Permit or Regional General Permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations until after current year funding is received and the offices reopen.
  • Corps to hold meeting on resumption of Sepulveda vegetative management work

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has scheduled an informal public information meeting Monday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 p.m., at the Balboa Sports Complex in Encino to discuss resumption of operations and maintenance work in a 48-acre area south of Burbank Boulevard at Sepulveda Dam Flood Control Basin this fall.

  • LA District awards contract for Nogales Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has awarded a contract Sept. 20 for $3,989,708.37 to West Point Contractors, Inc. to construct a replacement bridge over Nogales Wash. The project will begin construction in October and is expected to be complete in June 2014.
  • USACE finalizes draft L.A. River study report and initiates 45-day public comment period

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finalized preparation of a draft report for the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study and posted the report to the Los Angeles District website Sept. 13. The report will appear in the Federal Register Sept. 20, which will trigger a 45-day public comment period that will help inform a final report and result in the Corps’ recommendation to Congress.
  • Army Corps to hold environmental impact scoping meeting on potential Whittier Narrows Dam modifications

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District will hold a public meeting for the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Modification Study and Environmental Impact Statement on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at the Pico Rivera Golf Course Clubhouse, 3260 Fairway Dr., Pico Rivera, 90660.
  • Intermittent closures set for San Luis Rey River levee maintenance road/recreation trail

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will intermittently restrict use of the maintenance road/recreation trail along the San Luis Rey River south levee between Sept. 9 and Dec. 6.
  • US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS HOSTS PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING ABOUT UPCOMING ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has scheduled an informal public information meeting to discuss an upcoming remedial investigation of two, World War II-era military training areas within the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, from 6-8 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Express, 1902 S. Highway 92, in Sierra Vista.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is finalizing preparation of a draft report for the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration study and anticipates releasing the report to the public in early September. The action will trigger a 45-day public comment period that will help inform a final report, which will include a recommendation to Congress.
